Eine Ausstellung vom 3. Dezember 2008 - 21. Januar 2009 im Künstlerhaus Hamburg
Das Ausstellungsprojekt Raum als Natur / Natur als Gesetz baut auf der Idee von „Natur“ als kulturelles, biologisches, topografisches und ökologisches Phänomen zwischen gedanklichem, im historischen Wandel immer wieder anders definierten Konstrukt und autarkem Lebensraum, der eigenen Gesetzmäßigkeiten folgt. Die Kunstgeschichte hat die Bilder generiert und tradiert, in denen „Natur“ Form erhalten hat und wahrgenommen wird. Mittels der (Natur-)Wissenschaften wurden wiederum die Gesetze erforscht, die das „Wesen“ der Natur und ihrer Evolution bestimmen. Dem Menschen ist es in dem Zuge gelungen, Muster und Strukturen aus dem „Wildwuchs“ der Natur herauszulesen und letztere durch konkrete Nutzbarmachung und mittels ästhetischer Reflexion zu zähmen und zu kultivieren. Auf der anderen Seite nimmt die Natur ihren originär autonomen Raum ein, der sich aller menschlichen Interventionen und Transformationsversuche zum Trotz einer restlosen Vereinnahmung widersetzt. Die Schwarzen Löcher des Alls stehen sinnbildlich für ein Terrain, das sich – nach weitgehender Erforschung und Kartierung der Welt – einer erschöpfenden Erkundung entzieht und somit zu einer der letzten Bastionen des „Geheimnisses Natur“ wird. Doch auch in die unentdeckten Weiten des Universums wagen sich Künstlerinnen und Künstler vor, den Rätseln auf der Spur, die sich im endlosen Umfeld unserer Erde entfalten. Die Ausstellung geht der Frage nach, wie sich „Natur“ als konzeptuelle Aktionsfläche und als eigendynamischer Raum konstituiert. Die verschiedenen strukturellen und inhaltlichen Organisationssysteme, nach denen „Natur“ betrachtet, geordnet, verstanden, imaginiert und letztlich in Szene gesetzt wird, werden in der zweiten Wirklichkeit der Kunst auf mannigfaltige Weise erfahrbar.
